Thrissur Pooram is one of the most exhilarating festivals celebrated in Kerala in the month of May or Medam, according to the Malayalam calendar.
It includes dazzling parasols and caparisoned elephants enchanted by some mellifluous music. The festivity celebrates the memory of Sakthan Thampuran, the maharaja of Kochi, who was one of the first organisers of the festival along with 10 other participating temples.
The adorned elephants and the Kudamattam ceremony reflect the spirit of this festival. The rhythmic and the swift changes of the radiant and sequined parasols make the ceremony one of the most spectacular celebrations in India.
The Ilanjithara Melam is another high point which includes a heart-rending musical performance involving traditional instruments which make it a utopia for the people gathered.
We, at India Imprints, cherish this festive mood for an exhilarating experience at the heart of Thrissur Pooram.
