The countryside of Maharashtra has a collection of skilful weavers spinning magic with their hands in the form of khunn.
Most Maharashtrian women wear this gorgeous fabric that comes in bright saris and blouses with a crescent-shaped bindi; they look stunning and bold yet comfortable in their attire.
Khunn saris these days come in numerous materials; some of them are silk, cotton, and polyester. Also, you can see them coming in unique patterns, motifs, and designs.
However, this unique form of art was going out of fashion as the artisans were escaping oppressors during the years of Islamic invasion or to escape the calamities of nature.
But, India Imprint is now trying with its heart and soul to bring back this art from the remote village areas to urban dwellers. Only with the help of our patrons, we can do this. So, let’s come together and join hands for our Khunn weavers.
