Beginning with Shravani Somvar, the major portion of Shravan month is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. Married women fast every Monday to show their devotion to Shiv ji, seeking blessings for a happy married life.

They go through a rigorous period of fasting without even sipping a drop of water praying for their husband’s long and prosperous lives.
