Festival of Divine Wedding!
The divine nuptial of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva on the 6th day of Jyestha month (9th of June) is an auspicious Hindu festival celebrated all over India, especially in Odisha’s Sambalpur district.
There’s a unique celebration which takes place in the Sital Sasthi Yatra that started 400 years ago. Although everyone can take part in it, only some people are fortunate to perform this sacred ceremony as parents of Parvati. As Shiva is the Swayambhu, no one plays the part of his parents. People from the transgender communityattend these rituals in large numbers since Shiva is the Ardhanarishvara.
Apart from this, men and women from various walks of life come from distant places to participate in Sital Sasthi. India Imprints wishes all those who are joining this carnival-like celebration this year a shower of blessings and happiness. Let us all mark the beginning of the monsoons seeking benedictions from the Almighty.
