Perhaps the two best epithets to describe ethnic tribal jewellery. While they are the truest forms of traditionality, they also are the glamour quotients adorned by modern women.
Back when time was ancient, and life was much simpler, clans used to design their jewellery with the wildest of their imaginations.
Starting from necklaces, earrings, ear cuffs, toe rings to bangles and exotic lip rings, indigenous tribal women had their own way of transfusing their emotions into the jewellery they wore as a symbol of sanctity!
History tells that tribes were often looted by colonial invaders, as a result of which their choice of materials was rather humble coming from nature’s core! Most of the time shells formed the base of their jewellery. Apart from this animal jaws and ivory were also amply used.
It is true that the modern era has churned a whole new dimension for fashion. However, these jewellery still hold on to their earthly charm no matter what!
