Do you love decorating your centre-table or a particular corner of your house with potteries you bought from a mela recently?

Do you love decorating your centre-table or a particular corner of your house with potteries you bought from a mela recently? To tell the truth, we all do!

Pottery is the purest form of art and the oldest tradition in the Indian subcontinent. Potters from Harappan civilisation crafted both handmade and wheel-made potteries. In ancient India, pottery was not only decorative but an item of necessity. They stored grains and water. However, now, we can hardly think of anything other than plastics for our daily use.

Artisans passed the skill of pottery-making to their sons and grandsons. But with the passing days, it’s becoming difficult to keep this pure, traditional art form alive. These people are going out of work, and even worse, dying, because people refuse to buy these goods.

This is why India Imprints is trying to restore the age-old tradition of pottery-making by bringing these artisans together from various corners of the country to showcase their creations.
